Simple and Elegant summer wedding in Medicine Lake, MN.

We asked Taylor and Jay to share their engagement story, and boy, Jay did a good job! On May 26th, they had decided to go out for dinner in celebration of Taylor's graduation from Concordia and Jay's successful completion of his first year of law school at Mitchell-Hamline. Taylor had a sneaking suspicion that something might be up, because Jay wanted to pick the restaurant and keep it a secret... Though, keeping the restaurant a secret was a tradition they kept for birthday dinners, so her friends and family were able to throw her off and convince her nothing out of the ordinary was going on.

They went to Bar La Grassa in the North Loop for their "celebratory dinner". After ordering their

dinner, Jay began talking about their traditions as a couple and their future; then he got down on

one knee and proposed! Taylor of course said YES, the entire restaurant erupted in applause & congratulations for them. Jay's surprises continued with him introducing Taylor to the photographer he had secretly hired to capture their engagement and do a mini engagement shoot for them in the North Loop.

To top it all off, Jay had also planned a surprise engagement party at his parents house that same night! All of their closest friends and family were in on the surprise and there to congratulate them. Taylor said:

"I was so happy that I burst into tears. I was beyond thrilled to see everyone there. Thank you to everyone who helped planned to make this proposal an incredibly special one."

Their wedding day came and went on June 29th, 2019. Their wedding vision was always "elegant and simple", as they felt it described them as a couple the best. Their goals were to have a beautiful day that didn't have an overwhelming amount of decor and activities going on. We think they achieved that goal!

Taylor's best tip for planning your dream wedding is to sit down, just you and your fiancé and pick the top three things that are most important to you when it comes to planning your wedding. Have those three things be what guides you and helps you decide on areas to focus on when you start planning. Not only will this give you a place to start, but it will also help you not sweat the small stuff.
